According to research, up to 40% of people promoted to a managerial position lose it within 18 months. A frequent reason for resignation, given by employees, is the supervisor – manager. An excellent professional or specialist will not always work as a manager. Successful managers also need new inspirations, verification of their skills and constant stimulation for development.

Consulting company Zenger/Folkman, in extensive research, identified 7 behaviors of the most effective employees: setting ambitious goals, showing consistency, having knowledge and professional experience, striving for results, anticipating and solving problems, taking initiative and cooperation. They were then compared with the results of the analysis of the behavior of effective leaders – managers. The competencies that define a great manager are much more focused on others u: openness to feedback, soliciting it and constantly looking for opportunities to improve, interest in employee development and supporting them, openness to innovation, ensuring good communication, emotional intelligence and supporting the development of the organization.

As you can see, the skills that determine the effectiveness and high performance of regular employees are not the only ones that employees will need to become effective managers.
